Introduction

Lung Cancer kills people every day. Although it is mostly due to smoking, everyone is at risk. Luckily, we can prevent this. But first, we need to find out what exactly lung cancer is.


What Is Lung Cancer?

Lung Cancer is the mutation of cells taking place in the lung. There are many types of lung cancer, including Adenonocarcinoma, Epidermoidcarcinoma, non-small, and small cell carcinoma. Over 170,000 people get some form of cancer every year, and over half of all lung cancer is in men.


What Are the Symptoms of Lung Cancer?

How can you tell if you have lung cancer? One symptom is coughing. Coughing occurs (in cancerous cases) when a tumor grows and blocks an air passage, making breathing difficult. Other symptoms include pain in the chest, shoulders and back, shortness of breathe, bronchitis, fatigue, and pneumonia. Cases of coughing up blood have been reported, along with the swelling of neck and face. Remember, these are just guidlines. If you are expierencing these symptoms, call your doctor right away.

Does Smoking Cause Lung Cancer?

Smoking causes mutation of the cell, specifically cigarettes. The average person that has lung cancer has 4 mutations of the cell, while the average smoker with lung cancer has 49 mutations. Smoking increases your risk greatly. Even secondhand smoke can cause irritations of the lung. Research shows that men who smoke even four cigarettes a day still face the triple risk of dying and that women have a fivefold boost risk.

How Can I Prevent Lung Cancer?

In order to prevent lung cancer, avoid smoke and other lung-damaging substances. Avoid radon and high cholesterol as well. Remember, no more than 605 milligrams a day of cholesterol. Treatments can be done, such as series of diffrent chemotherepy and radiation processes. Chemotherapy being a chemical treatment. Radiation is a series of lasers. Doctors say a new gene therepy is occuring called p53, but a limited imfortmation is known. Also a healthy diet is key; eat lots of fruits and vegetables. Remarkabley breakfast cereals are known to lower your risk. You should always be aware of the substances in which you breathe.




Conclusion

Lung Cancer is the mutation of cells that enter and block the lungs. Over 170,000 people get lung cancer every year. Smoking is the leading cause of lung cancer. By eating a healthy diet and not smoking, you can prevent lung cancer.
